Maternal fetal medicine
We care for high risk pregnant women and women with chronic illnesses considering pregnancy. Our comprehensive diagnosis and management are provided by physicians who have upon graduation, completed two to three years of a maternal fetal medicine fellowship and four years of obstetrics and gynecology residency training. Our providers understand the unique challenges of a high risk pregnancy. Our focus is on the health and well-being of the mother and fetus. If needed, our providers work with other medical specialists to coordinate care during pregnancy and birth, and throughout the newborn period. This multispecialty system of care allows for the best outcomes in a complicated pregnancy.
What we do
Our specialists see women undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures during pregnancy, including:
- Comprehensive ultrasound
- Genetic amniocentesis
- Fetal surgery or treatment
- Chorionic villus sampling
We treat pregnant women with medical or surgical disorders, including:
- Heart disease
- High blood pressure
- Preeclampsia
- Diabetes or other endocrine disorders
- Kidney or gastrointestinal disease
- Infectious diseases
In addition, we care for healthy women whose pregnancies are at greater risk because of:
- Abnormal prenatal genetic screening
- Multiple babies
- Recurrent preterm labor and delivery
- Recurrent miscarriages
- Suspected fetal growth restriction, where baby is not growing enough
