The neurodevelopmental pediatric team at Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital holds developmental assessment clinics each month in Muskegon, Ottawa and Kent counties. This clinic provides follow-up care for infants who were under 30 weeks gestation, weighed less than 1,500 grams at birth, were diagnosed with HIE (hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy/body cooling protocol) and who were admitted to our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Developmental Assessment Clinics are available to the residents of each respective county. Patients must live in the county where the clinic is held in order to be seen in that particular clinic.
The multidisciplinary teams providing these follow-up services consist of physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, hearing specialists, dietitians and nurses.
The Developmental Assessment Clinics were formed through a partnership with the Muskegon Intermediate School District, Ottawa Area Intermediate School District, Kent Intermediate School District, the Kent County Health Department and WIC programs from each county.
Our experienced pediatric doctors and specialists are ready to serve you and your family.
