Who Else Reports

Many organizations provide recommendations for evaluating quality and safety or offer comparisons among hospitals.

Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is the lead federal agency charged with improving the quality, safety, efficiency and effectiveness of health care. 

Institute of Medicine (IOM) works outside the framework of government to ensure scientifically informed analysis and independent guidance. The institute provides unbiased, evidence-based and authoritative information and advice concerning health and science policy.

Institute of Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) is devoted entirely to medication error prevention and safe medication use. The organization is known and respected worldwide as the premier resource for impartial, timely and accurate medication safety information.

Michigan Health & Hospital Association (MHA) is the statewide leader representing the 144 community hospitals in Michigan. MHA represents the interests of its member hospitals and health systems in the legislative and regulatory arenas on key issues and supports their efforts to provide quality, cost-effective and accessible care.

National Association of Children's Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI) is an organization of children's hospitals with 221 members in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Italy, China, Mexico and Puerto Rico. NACHRI promotes the health and well-being of all children and their families by supporting children's hospitals and health systems that are committed to providing excellent health care to kids. 

National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF) uses a collaborative and inclusive approach to improving the safety of care provided to patients. NPSF develops programs, initiatives, tactics and tools to accelerate positive changes for patient safety. 

National Quality Forum (NQF) promotes change through the development and implementation of a national strategy for health care quality measurement and reporting.

Priority Health is an award-winning health plan that is based in Michigan and nationally recognized for creating innovative health solutions. They serve 625,000 members and 11,000 employers across Michigan.

The Joint Commission evaluates and certifies more than 15,000 health care organizations and programs in the U.S. An independent, not-for-profit organization, The Joint Commission is the nation's predominant standards-setting and accrediting body in health care.
