Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Welcomes Neonatologist
Helen DeVos Children's Hospital announces the addition of a neonatologist to its medical staff. Steven Gelfand, M.D., is providing care to critically ill newborns in the Helen DeVos Children's Hospital Neonatal Center.
Dr. Gelfand received his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and his medical degree from Medical College of Ohio. He completed a combined residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan and a fellowship in neonatology at Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Gelfand is board-certified in pediatrics.
Helen DeVos Children's Hospital's Neonatal Center is one of the largest in the nation, caring for more than 1,200 babies each year. Last year, more than 200 babies requiring special care were sent to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital from throughout the region. Dr. Gelfand is joining a team that includes nine neonatologists and more than 150 nurses and support staff.
